Resistance Training (also known as “weight training”) is anaerobic meaning that it does not require oxygen. It helps to increase the body's strength, power, and muscular endurance.
Resistance training typically involves working against a weight, force or gravity. Methods of resistance training include using one’s own body weight, stretch bands, free weights, weight machines, water or immovable objects. It is particularly beneficial for those at high risk for developing osteoporosis and musculo-skeletal disorders.
Resistance training helps to “boost” the immune system and has great potential for “igniting” the metabolism. The metabolism is simply the sum total of all chemical events that occur in the body. Furthermore, resistance training helps to promote the maintenance and (if desired) addition of lean muscle tissue. That is great news because lean muscle tissue is the only entity in the body which can burn fat! Resistance training is also a terrific way to promote feelings of augmented self-esteem.
For these reasons, resistance training fosters an environment conducive for the most holistically healthy you!
Our experienced, professional and courteous staff will help individualize a resistance training program based on your specific goals.
